Procrastination Sucks

Procrastination really sucks.

For the past week, I’ve been doing all sorts of things in the name of starting my own business, except actually starting one!

I’ve got a few ideas for software products and websites I could build. For each of them, I’ve surfed around the web looking for competitors. But mostly I get distracted just reading the internet somewhere along the way, instead of actually doing anything that moves the needle.

I know I need to just roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty, building something. So, here’s my resolution to stop procrastinating.

Ground rules:

  1. Each hour that I’m working on my business, I need to produce some artifact or accomplish some task: publish a blog post, draw up a UI mockup, etc.
  2. If an hour goes by and I fail to meet (1), then it’s time to step away and come back when I’m ready to be productive.

Two rules doesn’t sound like enough, but I like simplicity, and I can’t think of any more for now. So here goes nothing!
